The doubly-bridged iron porphyrins (1) and (8) have been synthesized carrying a covalently bound, proximal S-Me ligand and an imidazole co-ordinating to the iron; UV and 1H NMR spectroscopy and electrochemistry show that these compounds are close analogues of cytochrome c.
