Synthesis and Tautomerism of Porphyrin β-Ketoesters

Deuteroporphyrin and cytodeuteroporphyrin β-ketoester derivatives have been prepared by condensation of the appropriate porphyrin acid chloride with ethyl t-butyl sodiomalonate or with the magnesium chelate of t-butyl β-oxopropionate.These porphyrins are enolised, and NMR results indicate that they consist of about 35percent of the enol and 65percent of the keto form.
