The structure and the preferred conformation of the four isomeric indanofurans 2-5 obtained by acid-induced dimerisation of ratanhiaphenol II, 1, and of two epimeric dimers 9 obtained from conocarpan, 8, have been elucidated with the aid of NMR studies.
