Cholera Toxin B Subunit (CTxB) is a recombinant protein derived from the cholera toxin, which is a product of the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. Unlike the native cholera toxin, CTxB does not contain the toxic A subunit and is free from contamination by Vibrio cholera. It is expressed in human HEK 293 cells as a C-terminally his-tagged protein with a calculated molecular mass of 13 kDa (amino acids Thr22-Asn124). This makes it a safer alternative for research and therapeutic applications.
