Reactions of Group 4-6 metal halides with 2,6-dimethylphenoxy(trimethyl)silane in THF afford pure compounds of type MXlm(THF)n (M=Ti, Zr, Hf with l=3, m=1, n=2 or l=2, m=2, n=2; M=Nb, l=4, m=1, n=1 or l=3, m=2, n=1; M=W, l=5, m=1, n=0 or l=4, m=2, n=0) in >75percent yields.Geometries of TiCl22(THF)2 and NbCl32(THF) were determined by the X-Ray diffraction method.
