General Description
Lithium methacrylate is a lithium salt of methacrylic acid, which is an organic compound commonly used in the production of various polymers and plastics. It is a white, crystalline solid at room temperature and is highly soluble in a variety of organic solvents. Lithium methacrylate is often utilized as a stabilizer and cross-linker in the production of acrylic polymers, and it also has applications in the manufacturing of adhesives, coatings, and various other industrial products. Additionally, it is sometimes used as a reactive diluent in UV-curable coatings and in the formulation of dental cements. Overall, lithium methacrylate plays a crucial role in the polymer industry due to its unique chemical properties and its ability to enhance the performance and durability of various plastic and polymer-based materials.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 13234-23-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,3,2,3 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 13234-23:
(7*1)+(6*3)+(5*2)+(4*3)+(3*4)+(2*2)+(1*3)=66
66 % 10 = 6
So 13234-23-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Crystal Structure, Solid-State Polymerization, and Ionic Conductivity of Alkali Salts of Unsaturated Carboxylic Acids, 2.- Investigations on Lithium Methacrylate and Lithium Methacrylate Tritonmethanolate

, p. 613 - 616 (2007/10/02)
The structure of lithium methacrylate C4H5OLi (1) and the corresponding lithium methacrylate triton methanolate C4H5O2Li * 1/3 CH3OH (2) have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.Compound 1 is built up by inorganic layers - a two-dimensional network of corner- and edge-shared LiO4 tetrahedra - and organic double layers with a hydrophobic interaction of zipper-like arranged methacrylate groups. The crystal structure of compound 2 can also be envisaged as a layered structure were "inorganic" and "organic" blocks alternate. Here edge- and cornershared LiO4 tetrahedra extend in zig-zag chains along which are bridged by carboxyl groups. The compounds the distances between the functional groups are too large for a diffusionless topochemical polymerisation.Polymerisation takes place thermally between 2200 and 290 deg C.It can also be induced by UV irradiation in the presence of benzoin. Keywords: Methacrylate, lithium salts/ Polymerization, solid state/ Conductivity, ionic
