2-Naphthalenesulfonic acid, 5(or 8)-amino-8(or 5)-[(4-hydroxyphenyl)amino]-, reaction products with sodium sulfide (Na2(Sx)) is a blue-gray powder that is slightly soluble in water, not soluble in alcohol and benzene, and soluble in sodium sulfide solution for olive. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it appears dark blue and forms a dark blue precipitate upon dilution. The dyeing content in alkaline insurance powder is dark yellow, which can be restored to its original color and luster after oxidation. However, it fades in sodium hypochlorite solution and turns dark blue when concentrated sulfuric acid is added.

Used in Textile Industry:2-Naphthalenesulfonic acid, 5(or 8)-amino-8(or 5)-[(4-hydroxyphenyl)amino]-, reaction products with sodium sulfide (Na2(Sx)) is used as a dye for cotton, hemp, and viscose fiber dyeing and printing. It offers moderate acid resistance, severe alkali resistance, and light fastness rated ISO 3-4 and AATCC 5. It also has fulling, perspiration fastness, and soaping ratings of ISO 4, (Alkali) 4-5, and AATCC 3, respectively.
