13368-13-3 Usage
Uses
Used in Research and Laboratory Applications:
EGTA Tetrasodium is used as a chelating agent for the determination of calcium levels in various experimental setups. It helps in accurately measuring calcium concentrations by binding to calcium ions and preventing their interaction with other molecules.
Used in Cell Culture and Tissue Studies:
In cell culture and tissue studies, EGTA Tetrasodium is employed as a chelating agent to deplete calcium ions from cultured cells. Repeated washing with EGTA-buffer can experimentally remove Ca2+ from cells, allowing researchers to study the effects of calcium depletion on cellular processes and functions.
Used in the Presence of Magnesium:
EGTA Tetrasodium is also useful as a chelating agent for determining calcium levels in the presence of magnesium. It selectively binds to calcium ions, even in the presence of other metal ions like magnesium, ensuring accurate calcium measurements.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Ethylene glycol-bis(β-aminoethyl ether)-N,N,N′,N′-tetra acetic acid tetrasodium salt (EGTA) dissociates mucin complex and is useful in immunohistochemical studies. It suppresses root growth and mitotic index in germinating wheat seeds. It is used as a decalifying agent in root canal biomechanical preparation and is effective compared to EDTA and cyclohexanediaminetetraacetic acid (CDTA).
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 13368-13-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,3,3,6 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 1 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 13368-13:
(7*1)+(6*3)+(5*3)+(4*6)+(3*8)+(2*1)+(1*3)=93
93 % 10 = 3
So 13368-13-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
