The one-pot construction of functionalized α′-methoxy-γ- pyrones is detailed. Starting from α,α′-dimethoxy-γ- pyrone, molecular diversity is attained by a regio- and stereoselective desymmetrization using allyllithium followed by vinylogous aldol reaction
