Uses
Used in Fragrance Industry:
Musk xylene is utilized as a fragrance ingredient in perfumes and household products for its strong, sweet, and musky odor. Its long-lasting and stable properties make it a desirable component in creating enduring scents.
Used in Perfume Formulation:
In the perfume industry, musk xylene is employed as a fixative agent to enhance the longevity of fragrances. Its ability to provide a musky base note contributes to the depth and complexity of perfume compositions.
Used in Household Products:
Musk xylene is also used in household products such as air fresheners, cleaning supplies, and laundry detergents to impart a pleasant and lasting scent.
However, it is important to note that due to environmental concerns and the potential for bioaccumulation in living organisms, the use of musk xylene has been decreasing in recent years. Alternative, more eco-friendly fragrance ingredients are being developed and adopted by the industry.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 13438-48-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,3,4,3 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 13438-48:
(7*1)+(6*3)+(5*4)+(4*3)+(3*8)+(2*4)+(1*8)=97
97 % 10 = 7
So 13438-48-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF CYCLOSILOXANES
-
Paragraph 0022, (2013/04/10)
Embodiments of the invention are directed to the preparation of a discrete cyclosiloxane or a discrete mixture of cyclosiloxanes where a dihydroxysilane or dihydroxysiloxane condenses with a dihydrosilane or dihydroxysiloxane in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst in a reaction phase including a solvent. The introduction of the dihydroxysilane or dihydroxysiloxane and dihydrosilane or dihydroxysiloxane is controlled such that the cyclocondensation occurs in a reaction phase that is dilute in the SiH and SiOH functionality permitting the isolation of the monocyclocondensation adduct in high yield with little higher molecular weight condensation products. In one embodiment of the invention 1,1-diphenyl-3,3,5,5-tetramethylcyclotrisiloxane is prepared in very high yield.
Electrochemical activation of diorganyl dialkoxysilanes for siloxane backbone extension
Keyrouz, Robert,Jouikov, Viatcheslav
, p. 902 - 904 (2007/10/03)
The reaction of diorganyl dialkoxysilanes PhRSi(OAlk)2 (R = Ph, vinyl, OMe; Alk = Me, Et) with electrochemically reduced forms of oxygen provides reactive intermediates that insert into hexamethyldisiloxane or permethyl cyclosiloxanes, D3
