The reaction of 2-aminothiazolopyridines (1) with benzonitrile in the presence of anhyd AlCl3 give N-(thiazolopyridin-2-yl)arylamidines (2) which on cyclodehydrogenation with lead tetraacetate in dry benzene afford 2-aryltriazolothiazolopyridines (4).
