Synthesis and fungitoxicity of some 1,3,4-thiadiazoloimidazoles and 3-(1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)-4-thiazolidinones

Several 2-α-aryloxyethyl-6-phenyl-1,3,4-thiadiazolo-imidazoles (IIIa-c) and 2-aryl-3-(5-α-aryloxyethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)-4-thiazolidinones (Va-i) have been prepared.Most of the compounds have been screened for their fungicidal activity against two fungi, Aspergillus niger and Helminthosporium oryzae and found to be fungicidal.Based on the screening data, a possible structure-activity relationship has been discussed.
