Coordination metal complexes between copper and various halogens disubstituted (Cl, Br, I) N-(4-(4'-n-alkoxybenzoyloxy)salicylidene) 4-n-butylaniline have been synthesized. These copper derivatives show mesomorphic properties and exhibit, in particular, a nematic phase over a wide temperature range. The physical characteristics of all these compounds are compared and discussed.A special emphasis is given to the effect of the size and the position of the halogen substituents.
