A novel 6-methylene-1,4-dioxan-2-one synthesis is described. 2-Propynyloxyacetic acids, which were synthesised from (i) ethyl glycolate and propynyl bromide in the presence of a base or (ii) treatment of a substituted propargyl alcohol and ethyl bromoacet
