The ultrasound-assisted multicomponent synthesis of novel derivatives of azo-linked dihydropyridines from azo-linked salicylaldehydes, dimedone, and ammonium acetate in the presence of an efficient inexpensive catalyst, L-proline, in high yield and a short reaction time is reported.
