The mechanism of asymmetric hydrogenation catalyzed by [Rh(NBD)((R)- PhenylBinepine)2]SbF61 has been studied by NMR experiments and DFT computations. Either the low-temperature hydrogenation of the catalyst-substrate adduct 4 or the
