Towards primary amines, Cr(CO)5CNCCl3 (1) acts as a synthetic equivalent for the nonexisting Cr(CO)5CCl2 thus giving rise to the isocyanide complexes Cr(CO)5CNR (R = Me (6a), iPr (6b), tBu (6c), Ph (6d), 4-C6H4OMe (6e), 4-C6H4NMe2 (6f), 1-C10H15 (6g), CH2CH=CH2 (6h), CH2CH2OMe (6i), CH2CH2OH (6j), CH(Et)CH2OH (6k), CH(Me)Ph (6l), CH2CO2Et (6m) CH(Me)CO2Et (6n), CH2CO2Na (6o), CH2CH(OEt)2 (6p), CH2CH2SH (6q).The main product with 2-mercaptoethylamine, however, is pentacarbonyl(thiazolidin-2-ylidene)chromium (8).
