Environmentally benign synthesis of 3-(2-oxo-2H-chromenyl)-1-[3-(2- chlorophenyl) [1,8] naphthyridin-2-yl]-1H-4-pyrazolecarbaldehydes using solid support

A simple and efficient method is described for the synthesis of 3-(2-oxo-2H-chromenyl)-1-[3-(2-chlorophenyl) [1,8] naphthyridin-2-yl]-1H-4- pyrazolecarbaldehydes 5 from 3-[2-(3-(2-chlorophenyl) [1,8]-naphthyridin-2-yl) ethanhydrazonyl]-2H-2-chromenones (hydrazones) 4 in the presence of DMF-POCI3 (Vilsmeier-Haack reagent) using silica gel as solid support under microwave irradiation. The products are obtained in good yields with high purity.
