Used in In Vitro Studies:
Spermine NONOate is used as a reagent for releasing Nitric Oxide into aqueous solutions at controlled rates. This application is particularly useful for in vitro studies, where controlled release of NO is essential for understanding its biological effects and interactions with various cellular components.
The half-life of Spermine NONOate in 0.1 M phosphate buffer at pH 7.4 is 39 minutes at 37°C or 230 minutes at room temperature. At a pH of 5.0, the dissociation is essentially instantaneous. This property allows researchers to study the effects of nitric oxide in a controlled manner, making Spermine NONOate a valuable tool in various research applications.

Biological Activity

A stable complex of nitric oxide and spermine used to generate a controlled release of nitric oxide in solution (EC 50 = 6.2 μ M for relaxation of rabbit aorta, and t=39 min at 37℃, pH 7.4, aqueous solution).
