Spermine NONOate is used as a reagent for releasing Nitric Oxide into aqueous solutions at controlled rates. The half-life of Spermine NONOate in 0.1 M phosphate buffer at pH 7.4 is 39 minutes at 37°C or 230 minutes at room temperature. At a pH of 5.0, the dissociation is essentially instantaneous. This property allows researchers to study the effects of nitric oxide in a controlled manner, making Spermine NONOate a valuable tool in various research applications.
Biological Activity
A stable complex of nitric oxide and spermine used to generate a controlled release of nitric oxide in solution (EC 50 = 6.2 μ M for relaxation of rabbit aorta, and t=39 min at 37℃, pH 7.4, aqueous solution).
