The complex has been obtained by reaction of the system C6Me6 - (C6H6)Ti(AlBr4)2 - 2Et3Al with diphenylacetylene.The titanacycloheptatriene ring is not planar, all C-C bonds are roughly equivalent and all carbon atoms are at bonding distances to titanium.The complex is a product of catalyst deactivation in which the oxidative addition of trimeric intermediate to TiII results in a release of aluminium-containing ligands.
