Uses
Aluminum Glycinate is an antacid which is used in the treatment of peptic ulceration. It is used in the development of a transdermal hydrogel patch for ferulic acid to treat skin damage induced by UV radiation.
Indications
Aluminum glycinate is a stomach acid neutralizer. It can neutralize gastric acid, reduce gastric acidity, reduce pepsin activity, improve upper abdominal pain and clinical symptoms caused by increased gastric acid, and has astringent and hemostasis effects.?
Pharmaceutical Applications
Aluminium glycinate [Al(NH2CH2COO)(OH)2] is used in anti-acid formulations. For example, Gastralgine; contains, amongst other ingredients, dihydroxy aluminium glycinate [Al(NH2CH2COO)(OH)2], Al(OH)3, magnesium trisilicate and simethicone. It is known to have additionally protective effects from ulcers.
Side effects
Occasionally mild anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, recovery after drug withdrawal. Large doses can cause intestinal obstruction.
