13701-64-9 Usage
Chemical Properties
white powder(s); prepared by fusion of CaCO3 and B2O3; used as a flux in metallurgy, in fire-retardant paint [MER06] [STR93]
Uses
Calcium metaborate can be used as an additive to improve the performance of nickel-metal hydride batteries. It is used as a precursor to synthesize calcium hexaboride (CaB6) by electro-reduction that can be used as high capacity anode for aqueous primary batteries. It can also be employed in the preparation of calcium-doped borate glass for thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD).

Agricultural Uses
The calcium salt of boric acid is called calcium borate.
Colemanite is a source of calcium borate,
(Ca2B6O11·5H2O),from which boron is extracted. It can
also be added to overcome boron deficiency.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 13701-64-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,3,7,0 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 13701-64:
(7*1)+(6*3)+(5*7)+(4*0)+(3*1)+(2*6)+(1*4)=79
79 % 10 = 9
So 13701-64-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
