Photoalkylation of α-Diketones with Tetraalkylstannanes via Electron Transfer

Irradiation of α-diketones in the presence of tetraalkylstannanes gave α-ketols via electron transfer.The analogy between the photo-induced electron transfer reactions and mass spectrometry exists in the fragmentation of the radical cation of the stannanes.

SYNTHESIS OF PRIMARY-DITERTIARY ENYNETRIOLS AND THEIR MONOETHERS AND THEIR HYDROGENATION

Primary-ditertiary cis- and trans-enynetriols and their monoethers were obtained by the condensation of enynyl alcohol with the hydroxy ketones and keto ethers under the conditions of the Favorskii reaction in liquid ammonia.When heated in the presence of alkaline agents, they dissociate into the initial reagents.The cis- and trans-enynetriols and their monoethers are hydrogenated at a platinum catalyst at various rates to the saturated analogs.
