Bis(phenyliodonium) diyne triflates 8-10 were prepared by the reaction of the corresponding tributyltinsubstituted diacetylenes 4-6 with cyanophenyliodonium triflate 7 in 78-93percent yields as relatively stable microcrystalline solids.They were characterized by multinuclear NMR, IR, and analytical data.Iodonium salts 8-10 reacted with triphenylphosphine under mild conditions with the loss of iodobenzene giving bisphosphonium salts 11, 12 in high yields.
