Efficient regioselective conjugate additions of thiophenols and benzotriazole to 4-aryl-4-oxobut-2-enoates were achieved under mild conditions. Thus, a variety of 2-(arylthio)-4-oxo-4-arylbutanoates and 2-benzotriazolyl-4- oxo- -4-arylbutanoates were conveniently synthesized in good to excellent yields. 2012 Copyright (CC) SCS.
