A thiolato-bridged Au2I Cu2I metalloring compound, [Au2- Cu2(L)4] (L= (C6H4NMe2)CH=N(C6H4)S), together with an analogous Cu4I compound, [Cu 4(L)4], was newly prepared from 2-(4-dimethylaminophenyl) benzothiazoline. The Au2ICu2I compound was found to show structural and spectroscopic features comparable well with those of [Ag4(L)4], rather than those of [Au 4(L)4] and [Cu4(L)4].
