Novel tetrasubstituted dicyanomethylene cyclopentadienes are provided which have utility as electron-transport agents in positively-charged electrophotographic elements. The compounds are characterized by the formula: STR1 wherein: R1 and R4 are each independently selected from the group consisting of lower alkyl, halogen and cyano; R2 and R3 are each independently selected from the group consisting of aryl and substituted aryl; and Z and Z' are each an electron withdrawing group.
