Synthesis of a Nagilactone Analogue from Totarol

Totarol (1) has been converted into the nagilactone-A analogue (25) by oxidative decarboxylation of the acid (18).Acid (18) was formed from the benzyl ester (20) after removal of the protecting group by hydrogenolysis, thereby circumventing a difficult hy
