A phenylamine-oligothiophene-based fluorescent chemosensor I3TEA was reported. This sensor exhibited highly selective and fast detection of Hg2+ ion in MeCN/H2O (8/2, v/v) solution through fluorescence quenching. The detection was unaffected by the other competitive metal cations. The low detection limit was found to be 5.92?×?10?7?M. In addition, the recognition process is reversible and confirmed by EDTA experiment.
