O-Methylated calixarenes (n=4, 6, and 8) coupled to C6H4-p-CmH2m+1 (m=8, 12, 14, and 16) via an azomethine linkage were synthesized.It was found that some of them show stable flow birefringence or readily form stable liquid crystals.
