Pyrazoles direct: Propargyl alcohols undergo hydrazination when treated with p-tosyl hydrazide in the presence of catalytic amounts of either Sc(OTf)3 or La(OTf)3 (see scheme; Tf= trifluoromethanesulfonyl).
