Used in Agricultural Applications:
Methyl 4-iodo-2-[3-(4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)ureidosulfonyl]benzoate sodium salt is used as a herbicide for controlling more than 50 different broadleaf weed species in the agricultural industry. It helps in reducing the substantial reduction of cereal productivity caused by competitive weeds such as G. aparine, M. chamomilla, S. media, Raphanus ssp., Cirsium arvense, and Lamium ssp.
At a rate of 2.5–10 g a.i. ha?1, the herbicide is effective for broadleaf weed control, while a higher rate of 7.5–10 g a.i. ha?1 is needed for consistent grass weed control. Major grass weeds controlled with this dose rate include Agrostis gigantea, A. spica‐venti, Lolium multiflorum, L. perenne, L. persicum, L. rigidum, Phalaris brachystachys, P. canariensis, P. paradoxa, P. annua, and P. trivialis.
In cereals, Methyl 4-iodo-2-[3-(4-methoxy-6-methyl-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)ureidosulfonyl]benzoate sodium salt is available commercially under the trade name "Hussar" as a straight product in a 1:3 ratio with mefenpyr‐diethyl as a safener. The compound is also sold in various combinations with other mixing partners, such as "Hussar? OF" (+ fenoxaprop‐p‐ethyl + mefenpyr‐diethyl), "Sekator?/Chekker?" (+ amidosulfuron + mefenpyr‐diethyl), "Cossack?" (+ mesosulfuron + mefenpyrdiethyl), and "Atlantis?" (+ mesosulfuron + mefenpyr‐diethyl).
