Synthesis of oxadiazoles, thiadiazoles and triazoles derived from benzo[b]thiophene
Sharba, A. Hussain K.,Al-Bayati,Aouad,Rezki
, p. 1161 - 1168 (2007/10/03)
In this work 3-chloro-2-chlorocarbonylbenzo[b]thiophene (1) was prepared from cinnamic acid and then converted into the acid hydrazide 2. The azomethines 3a-e were prepared from the corresponding aryl aldehydes and the acid hydrazide 2. Treatment of compo

The present invention is directed to substituted indole-2-carboxylic acid benzylidene-hydrazides and analogs thereof, represented by the general Formula I: wherein X, Ar1, R2-R6 and R12 are defined herein. The present invention also relates to the discovery that compounds having Formula I are activators of caspases and inducers of apoptosis. The compounds of this invention may be used to induce cell death in a variety of clinical conditions in which uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells occurs.
Benzo[b]thiophenes, II: Novel benzo[b]thienylhydrazine and 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives as potential antidepressant agents
AboulWafa,El-Metwalli
, p. 603 - 608 (2007/10/02)
Three novel series of benzo[b]thiophene derivatives bearing various hydrazone, hydrazine and 1,3,4-oxadiazole moieties were synthesized as potential antidepressant agents. 22 Compounds were evaluated for their in vitro inhibitory effect on monoamine oxida
