Conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) were synthesized from the tetrasubstituted [2.2]paracyclophane skeleton as a tetra-functional building block using Hay coupling, Sonogashira-Hagihara cross-coupling, and Yamamoto coupling. The CMPs exhibited microporosity (less than 2 nm) and large surface areas (up to approximately 1000 m2 g-1). The CMPs consisted of relatively uniform particles and dispersed in organic solvents.
