14481-29-9 Usage
Chemical Properties
green fine crystalline powder
Uses
Ammonium Hexacyanoferrate(II) is used for the detection of calcium by spot test. A hazardous chemical compound and a useful reagent for the preparation of heterometallic complexes.
Safety Profile
A poison. Reacts explosively withmetal nitrates when heated, e.g., cobalt(II) nitrate at 220°Cand copper(II) nitrate at 220°C. When heated todecomposition it emits toxic fumes of CN?? and NH3. Seealso CYANIDE.
Purification Methods
The pale yellow trihydrate powder can be washed with 10% aqueous NH3, filtered, then washed several times with EtOH and Et2O, and dried at room temperature. It decomposes in a vacuum above 100o and should be stored away from light and under N2. In light and air it decomposes by losing NH3. [Lux in Handbook of Preparative Inorganic Chem (Ed. Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 14481-29-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,4,4,8 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 14481-29:
(7*1)+(6*4)+(5*4)+(4*8)+(3*1)+(2*2)+(1*9)=99
99 % 10 = 9
So 14481-29-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
