Complex tetrahydrofurans from carbohydrate lactones: Easy access to epimeric C-glycosides of glucofuranose from D-glycero-D-gulo-heptono-1,4-lactone
Bichard, Claire J. F.,Brandstetter, Tilmann W.,Estevez, Juan C.,Fleet, George W. J.,Hughes, David J.,Wheatley, Joseph R.
, p. 2151 - 2156 (2007/10/03)
A practical synthesis of epimeric C-glycosides of glucofuranose from the cheap gluco-heptono-1,4-lactone is reported; the ring contractions of 2-O-triflates of protected gluco-heptono-1,5-lactones are discussed. No tetrahydropyrancarboxylates were isolate
SPIROHYDANTOINS OF GLUCOFURANOSE: ANALOGUES OF HYDANTOCIDIN

, p. 2149 - 2152 (2007/10/02)
Routes from both γ- and δ-glucoheptonolactones to spirohydantoins of glucofuranose are described, affording further analogues of hydantocidin. It may be that the glucofuranose isomers are more stable than the glucopyranose forms.
