Triethylammonium salts of unusual α-phosphoranyl-α-hydroxyacids have been prepared by reacting hydridophosphoranes with pyruvic, phenylpyruvic and keto-2-glutaric acids, in the presence of triethylamine.These compounds react with phosphorus trichloride or (and) chloro-2-dioxaphospholane-1,3,2 giving new polynuclear spirophosphoranes.Key words: Hydridophosphoranes; α-phosphoranyl-α-hydroxyacids; polynuclear spirophosphoranes.
