Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), also known as Follitropin beta, is a hormone of recombinant DNA origin that is chemically similar to natural FSH and follitropin alfa, with only slight differences in the composition of the carbohydrate side chains. The primary and tertiary structures of both follitropins alfa and beta are indistinguishable from those of naturally occurring human FSH. Bioassays and physiochemical studies have shown that follitropins alfa and beta are also indistinguishable from each other.
