6-Halogeno-1,3-benzodioxane analogs of chalcones have been synthesized by various methods.Flavanone and flavone analogs of silandrin and hydnocarpin have been obtained from them.The structures of the new flavonoids have been shown by their PMR spectra.

PMR spectra were obtained for benzodioxane and benzodioxepan derivatives of chromanone.The heterocyclic substituent in 2-substituted chromanones (flavanone analogs) has equatorial orientation, while the heterocyclic substituent in 3-substituted chromanones (isoflavanone analogs) has axial orientation.These conclusions are based on analysis of the coupling constans, aromatic solvent-induced shifts, and shifts induced by lanthanide shift reagents.
