148-03-8 Usage
Description
(±)-β-Tocopherol is a lipid-soluble form of vitamin E with antioxidant activity. It scavenges 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH; ) radicals with an EC50 value of 68.2 μM. (±)-β-Tocopherol (100 μM) inhibits LPS-induced COX-2 gene expression in mouse RAW 264.7 macrophage cells. Unlike (±)-α-tocopherol , (±)-β-tocopherol does not inhibit smooth muscle cell proliferation, decrease PKC activity, increase phosphoprotein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) activity, or modify expression of the α-tropomyosin gene. Uses
One of the naturally occurring forms of Vitamin E. Is biologically less active than α-Tocopherol. This is the racemic mixture of all stereoisomers.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 148-03-8 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 1,4 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 148-03:
(5*1)+(4*4)+(3*8)+(2*0)+(1*3)=48
48 % 10 = 8
So 148-03-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
