General Description

Metakaolin is a highly reactive pozzolan composed of amorphous aluminosilicate materials that is produced by calcining kaolin clay at high temperatures. It is primarily used as a supplementary cementitious material in concrete production to improve strength, durability, and workability. Metakaolin reacts with the calcium hydroxide in cement to form additional calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) gel, which enhances the overall performance of the concrete. This supplementary material also reduces the production of calcium hydroxide and lowers the porosity of the concrete, resulting in a denser and more durable structure. Metakaolin can also be used in the production of high-performance concrete, as well as in grouts, mortars, and other construction applications. Its pozzolanic properties make it an environmentally friendly and sustainable alternative to traditional cementitious materials.
