A study was performed on 1,3,2-oxazastibinanes. The hitherto unreported oxazastibinanes were synthesized by the sodium borohydride reduction of 3-phenyl-1-arylamino-3-oxopropane and subsequent cyclization of the disodium salt of 3-phenyl-1-arylamino-3-hydroxypropane with R3SbBr2 (R = Ph, p-tolyl or mesityl). These compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, molecular weight determination, and by IR, far IR, 1H, and 13C NMR spectral studies.
