Title thiadiazoles were obtained by reaction of sulfur and methylpyridines in the presence of alkyloxybenzoylhydrazines.Corresponding oxadiazoles together with symmetrical 2,5-dialkyloxyphenyl-1,3,4-thiadiazoles were also isolated as by-products.The formation of different reaction products is rationalized.
