AIDS031406 is a chemical compound that is also known as N-(4-acetamido-2-[(4-hydroxyphenyl)sulfonyl] phenyl)-2-[(4-hydroxyphenyl)sulfonyl] benzamide. It is a sulfonamide derivative with potential antineoplastic and anti-inflammatory activities. AIDS031406 functions as an inhibitor of the enzyme carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX), which is overexpressed in hypoxic tumor cells and contributes to tumor cell survival and growth. By inhibiting CAIX, AIDS031406 may help reduce tumor hypoxia and inhibit tumor cell proliferation. AIDS031406 is being studied for its potential use in the treatment of certain types of cancer, as well as other conditions involving inflammation and hypoxia, although further research is still needed to fully understand its therapeutic potential.
