Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 15473-89-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,5,4,7 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 15473-89:
(7*1)+(6*5)+(5*4)+(4*7)+(3*3)+(2*8)+(1*9)=119
119 % 10 = 9
So 15473-89-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Regioselective synthesis of alkylarenes by two-step ipso-substitution of aromatic dicarboxylic acids

Bramborg, Andrea,Linker, Torsten

, p. 5552 - 5563 (2012/11/07)

A strategy for the regioselective alkylation of arenes was developed, starting from commercially available and inexpensive terephthalic acid or naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid. The method entails a formal ipso-substitution of the carboxylate groups by a sequence of reductive alkylation under Birch conditions and subsequent acid-mediated rearomatization with loss of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. More than 20 different arenes with various side-chains were synthesized. With naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid as starting material, we were able to control the degree of alkylation by choosing the appropriate electrophile in the Birch reduction. Thus, bisalkylated naphthalenes and naphthoic acids became available chemoselectively. All reactions afforded a single regioisomer exclusively in high yields. Overall, aromatic dicarboxylic acids are suitable substrates for a two-step ipso-substitution that allows the selective synthesis of alkylated benzenes and naphthalenes.

Design of new potent and selective secretory phospholipase A2 inhibitors. Part 5: Synthesis and biological activity of 1-alkyl-4-[4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-[4H]-oxadiazol-5-one-3-ylmethylbenz-4′-yl(oyl)] piperazines

Boukli, Latifa,Touaibia, Mohamed,Meddad-Belhabich, Nadia,Djimde, Atime,Park, Chang-Ha,Kim, Jung-Joo,Yoon, Joo-Hyoung,Lamouri, Aazdine,Heymans, Francoise

, p. 1242 - 1253 (2008/09/17)

Among the different PLA2s identified to date, the group IIA secretory PLA2 (sPLA2 GIIA) is implied in diverse pathological conditions. In this work we describe the synthesis, inhibitory activities, and structure-activity relationships (SAR) of a new class of substituted piperazine derivatives. The in vitro fluorimetric assay using two groups of enzymes, GIB and GIIA, revealed several compounds as highly potent inhibitors (IC50 = 0.1 μM). The in vivo activity assessed by ip or per os administration in a carrageenan-induced edema test in rats showed that two compounds proved to be as potent as indomethacin (10 mg/kg).
