The nucleophilic addition of tris(2-hydroxyethyl)amine to acetylene is accompanied by the formation of a stable complex between the alkaline catalyst (potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide) and the initial amine and also by cleavage of the C-N bond, leading to the production of the vinyl ethers of N-(2-hydroxyethyl)morpholine and bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amine.The use of the superbasic potassium hydroxide-DMSO catalytic system increases the rate and selectivity of the formation of tris(2-vinyloxyetyl)amine.
