Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 15723-28-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,5,7,2 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 15723-28:
(7*1)+(6*5)+(5*7)+(4*2)+(3*3)+(2*2)+(1*8)=101
101 % 10 = 1
So 15723-28-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Effect of sodium lauryl sulphate micelle in the oxidation of dl-mandelic acid by Cr(VI)

Panigrahi,Sahu, Saroj K.

, p. 660 - 666 (2007/10/03)

dl-Mandelic acid on oxidation by Cr(VI) in the absence and presence of sodium lauryl sulphate (NaLS) follows a route conforming to Michaelis-Menten kinetics. Rate data in the presence of [H+] show an acid dependent and acid independent path. En

Micellar Catalysis - Effect of Sodium Lauryl Sulphate in the Oxidation of Cyclopentanol by Chromic Acid

Sahu,Panigrahi

, p. 576 - 579 (2007/10/03)

Cyclopentanol oxidation by CrVI in presence and absence of sodium lauryl sulphate (NaLS) is first order in both the reactants. However, the acid dependence changes from a mixed order in absence of NaLS to pure second order in presence of NaLS. The oxidation rate decreases monotonically with [NaLS] above critical micellar concentration. The observation bas been rationalised in the light of both Menger-Portnoy model as well as Berezin's model. One of the reactants, viz, CrVI is partitioned between the micellar and aqueous phase.

Kinetics and Mechanism of Ag(1) Catalysed Oxidation of Chromium(III) by Peroxodiphosphate in Aqueous Perchloric Acid

Rao, K Jagan Mohana,Rao, P V Krishna

, p. 1066 - 1067 (2007/10/02)

The kinetics of the title reaction has been investigated under the conditions ( >> ) by measuring Cr(VI) spectrophotometrically at 350 nm (PDP refers to peroxodiphosphate anion). The reaction rate is zero order in , first order in and complex order in .A probable mechanism has been proposed and the various equilibria and rate constants are reported.
