It's swell! The first total synthesis of potent anti-inflammatory agent salinamide A was achieved. This synthesis features a concise elaboration of the phenylglycine-derived epoxide fragment and the identification of two possible macrolactamization sites (see scheme). (Chemical Equation Presented)
