Alpha-helical corticotropin releasing factor (12-41) is a synthetic peptide analog that functions as a selective antagonist of corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF). It is designed to have high affinity for CRF receptors and to competitively block the binding of endogenous CRF, thus preventing the downstream signaling pathways activated by CRF. This antagonist has been used in research to investigate the role of CRF in stress-related disorders, anxiety, depression, and addiction. It has also been studied for its potential therapeutic applications in these conditions as well as in the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and the immune response.
