5,6-Diphenyl 1,2,4-triazine-3-thiol (III) was synthesized from α-diketone benzil (II); II in turn was synthesized from benzoin (I). III on reaction with 1-chloro-2,3-epoxy propane yielded 3-[(oxiranyl methyl) thio]-5,6-diphenyl 1,2,4-triazine (IV). IV was
